Jill Biden Stands Out In Shiny Jimmy Choo Pumps at the Democratic National Convention 2024

The United States’ First Lady Jill Biden brought forth a fun look in pumps last night at the 2024 Democratic National Convention, which kicked off on Monday and is taking place this week in Chicago.

Fashioning a sparkly blue minidress from Ralph Lauren, the first lady donned a pristine pair of pointed pumps, which were characterized by a sharp triangular design, and doused in a silver colorway that provided a noteworthy contrast to her dress. Emphasized by a sharp heel, the pumps fell within Biden’s preferred height range of 3-to-4 inches.

Although not yet confirmed, the shoes appear to be the Jimmy Choo Romy 85 Glitter Pumps, valued at around $825. The heels feature a coarse glitter fabric and are leather lined with a leather sole, and add a pop of edge with a metallic silver heel. As for the rest of her outfit, the First Lady kept things simple with minimal jewelry and accessories, preferring for her ensemble to be the statement-maker of the evening.

Various designers including Jimmy Choo, Chanel and Valentino offer pointed-toe models regularly as a part of their catalog throughout the course of the year, as the popularity of slim and chunky stiletto heels with an angular toe-box has started to re-emerge again in the 2020s.

In 2024, the style trended on an upward swing with stylists recommending pointed shoes to achieve simple and classic looks for the remainder of summer and fall.

Jill Biden herself is an avid wear of the pointed pump model. Earlier this summer, she was photographed leaving the Presidential debate in a pair of blue suede pumps that featured a sharp toe and a thin heel ranging between 3-to-4 inches in height. She was also seen at the 2024 Paris Olympics in July at Paris La Défense Arena in a pair of Valentino patent leather slingback shoes that featured a sleek, glossy finish, a modest stiletto height and slender ankle straps that provided the finishing touches.
