Vice President Kamala Harris has arrived in Chicago for the Democratic National Convention, and she brought a pair of her trusty Converse All-Stars along with her. A known fan of Chuck Taylors, the presidential candidate brought a casual sensibility to her outfit with a pair of platform black sneakers on Aug. 18.

In recent times, Harris has been complementing her signature pantsuits with classic pumps, helping her exude a sense of power. While running alongside President Joe Biden in 2020, her fashion sense gained recognition as she repeatedly wore Chuck Taylors on the campaign trail.

A closer look at Kamala Harris’ shoes.

Harris elevated the look with a pair of platform Chuck Taylor All-Star Lift Platforms. The shoes are available in low-top and high-top iterations from Converse for $70 and $75, respectively. In signature Converse style, the lace-up shoes featured a black canvas upper with a white cap toe and white sole with a black accent, in addition to Converse All-Star branding.

The sneakers offered the vice president comfort with EVA foam and cushioning. While Harris often wears black Converse, the company also offers the platform high tops in hues across the color spectrum.

When opting for a more formal footwear choice, Harris often steps out in heels — like the light beige pair she wore in Indianapolis in July or the darker tan heels she wore to Essence Festival of Culture that same month. The politician and former California attorney general appreciates the versatility of a neutral-toned shoe, be it a pump or a Converse.

Harris’ husband, Doug Emhoff, was by her side and he matched his wife’s relaxed style. He wore a pair of black sneakers with a white sole, dark blue jeans, and a black blazer to greet fans during their arrival.
